RATHER A DAISY IN A HELMET THAN POPPIES ON A GRAVE
Every year people display poppy flowers on Remembrance day, a symbol of those who were sent to fight and die for the interests of the powerful. But the poppies are a reminder of graves – of death. We choose a different way. We don‘t celebrate wars. We celebrate those who refused. Wars are not fought by presidents, generals or arms manufacturers. Wars are fought by ordinary people, sent to kill and be killed for borders, profit and power. But we have a choice. And some had already made their decision: deserters, objectors and those who said NO to the orders. They aren‘t traitors – they are defenders of life.
- put on a daisy – symbol of courage to say no to war
- you can pick one in the park
- or make one from paper, cloth or draw it
- take a photo and share it on social media
- explain to others why you chose to wear a daisy
- download and share our posters and flyers or ask for copies
- hang a banner or chalk a message on the pavement
EVERY DESERTER WILL BRING US CLOSER TO PEACE
