On the 19th of March, 2025, conscientious objector (refuser) Ella Keidar Greenberg reported to an IDF (Israeli Defense Force) draft board, where she announced her intent to refuse enlisting in the army and participating in military operations and occupation. She became a prisoner of conscience, because she refuses to murder her Palestinian sisters and brothers, and demands peace between both nations.
Join us in her support by taking a selfie with a message of solidarity for Ella, which will be published as well as sent directly to her, to provide her with emotional support in her struggle in military prison. It will only take a piece of paper a marker or pencil, and a minute of your time. Write a message in English (using an online translator if needed) on the piece of paper, take a selfie with your message, and send it to us.
If you don’t know what to write, don’t be afraid to ask for help. You can write or draw anything you want; let your imagination run wild. If you do not feel like drawing or writing your message, you can download and print out ready-made PDF messages on the „Dezertér“ website (https://dezerter.noblogs.org/ke-stazeni/) Naturally, you can also write your message digitally by, for example, editing your picture on your phone.
If you want, you can also attach a letter written in English (we will also translate letters written in Czech or Slovak), which will make her time waiting to be let out of military prison feel more bearable.
Let’s show Ella and others in Israel that they are not alone, and let’s give them the courage to rebel against the government and war by showing our interest and solidarity. Each of us can contribute a little bit to end the war. We may be an inconsequential speck of sand in the desert, but if we join our forces, we will become a sandstorm which will destroy the war machine!
