On the occasion of Deserters‘ Day, which our editorial office declared, we could not miss the opportunity to meet in person. We celebrated Deserters‘ Day collectively, and above all constructively – we did not just talk, but discussed and planned further activities. Of course, we did not forget to take a promotional photo with a banner made for Deserters‘ Day.
In addition to traditional administrative matters, it was agreed that the fifth part of our magazine ,,Deserter“ would be published on September 1st, thematically focused on nuclear disarmament, to commemorate the barbaric act of the US government, which was the only one in history to drop nuclear bombs on Japanese cities. We will also focus on the war in Ukraine, the Middle East and the occupation of Palestine.
We reported on the Deserters‘ Day, which our magazine declared for the first time, thus laying the foundations for a new tradition. We will celebrate it again next year, and we will also remember it in the fall on November 11th on Veterans Day to confront this militaristic and nationalistic holiday celebrating the murder of working people for the interests of the rulers and the rich. As an alternative, we will offer life and refusal to kill. Instead of war veterans, we will celebrate deserters, instead of poppies, we will wear the symbol of desertion – daisies. We are starting to work on the campaign.
At the meeting there were Deserter promotional stickers for disassembly on site. If you want to help us promote our magazine in your city, we will be very realy happy. Write for the stickers and we will send them to you by mail for free. The next meeting will be held in a month.
